SEKATEN YOGYAKARTA


In the municipality of Yogyakarta, there were ceremonies called Sekaten or better known as the Night Market Festival Sekaten since before the ceremony was held Sekaten first night market activities because people are welcome Maulud day with gratitude and happiness in the carnival celebrations in the North Square.  Another opinion says that the word comes from the word syahadataini Sekaten, two sentences in the Islamic creed, the creed taukhid (ASYHADU alla ila-ha-ILALLAH) which means "I bear witness that there is no God but Allah" and the Apostles Creed (Waasyhadu Muhammadarrosululloh anna) which means "I testify that Muhammad was the messenger of Allah".  Sekaten ceremony is considered as a blend of Islamic preaching and art activities. At the beginning of the spread of Islam in Java, one of the Wali Songo, the Sunan Kalijaga, use the musical arts (Javanese gamelan) to lure the public to come to enjoy his musical performance by using two sets of gamelan Kanjeng Kyai Sekati. In gamelan hit, they purify themselves by fasting and flush jamas.Sekaten started on 6 Maulud (Rabi) during the afternoon by issuing gamelan Kyai Kanjeng Sekati from persemayamannya, Kanjeng Kyai signs. Thus sounded alternately between Kanjeng Kyai Guntur Madu and Kyai Kanjeng Nogowilogo.In the middle of the piece, the Sultan came over and made the piece gently to the Sultan left the Prophet Maulud Kyai Pengulu.The ceremony was completed at 24.00 pm, and after all is completed, the gamelan Sekaten brought back from the Grand Mosque of page go to the Palace. This displacement is a
